The Dirtiest Beats this side of the Atlantic....
Hailing from the breakbeat epicenter of Orlando, Florida, Filthy
Rich is quickly making a big name for himself both domestically
and internationally. He has been deejaying around North America
for the last seven years, playing one-off parties and holding
down residencies at clubs such as Icon, La Vela, and Cairo.
Over the past three years Filthy Rich has jumped head first into
the world of music production, knocking out 10 + solid releases
for Funk Wax, Yes Mate Recordings, Kinetic, as well as some
cheeky underground “remixes”. He records under various aliases
including Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Darkliner, Pokey Lottapuss,
and Mellow Drumaddict. Filthy’s biggest accomplishment came in
late 2001 when he and production partner Dave London were signed
to a multi-record deal with the UK’s Distinctive Breaks. They
are in good company being label mates with breakbeat
heavyweights Hybrid and Way Out West. They are proud to be the
first North American breakers to be signed to this exclusive
label. The single entitled “Twisted” is set to be released this
summer as two 12”s featuring remixes by Future Funk Squad
appearing on the upcoming Y4K album. This dynamic duo has begun
work on the follow up single as well as an entire album for
Distinctive Breaks. Recent releases include their remix of the
UK progressive breaks hit Monsoon: Africa, Sipping Soma : Super
Conscious, Speedo’s Fat Beat (as heard on the Levi’s
commercial), as well as the two breakbeat mixes of Oakenfold’s
Perfecto classic Ascension “Someone”. Rich gave Oakenfold a
copy of the remix when he played in Orlando. A week later Paul
called him personally to give praise and proceeded to play the
record live from New York City on MTV for millions of viewers
watching at home.
Touring to support the music he loves to produce, Filthy Rich
will be on the road supporting the releases, making return
visits to California, Las Vegas, New Orleans and north of the
border to Canada. Rich will be jumping back in the studio with
the ever popular Dave London to lay their trademark twists on
some new original productions.
Filthy Rich lives for the beats, his pulse thumps at 138 BPM.
He loves to rock a party, getting dirty on the decks with his
signature style of “sleazy listening”. Whether it’s Funky or Nu
Skool breaks, or even UK hard house, Filthy Rich is sure to
please the crowd. Hide your daughters! |
