DJ 43, the
name synonymous with breaks....
DJ 43
AKA Mark Bell began DJ-ing at the ripe young age of 16 in rock
& roll infested Athens, Ga. As soon as he was legally able,
the older DJ's swiped him up and put him in the various nightclubs
around Athens to showcase his super silky mixing skills. By the
age of 21, he had progressed into the area’s premier DJ. Soon
after, Mark, along with four of his best DJ-ing friends founded
Phungus International which soon became well known throughout the
southeast for throwing not the largest parties, but the most FUN
parties known to club kids.
Also
at this time, he took on the moniker "DJ 43". By the age
of 23, the production bug began to eat at Mark and he was set to
release his first single "How the Bass Kix" on his own.
The watchful eyes of Kaleidoscope Music out of Tampa, FL jumped at
the opportunity to release this record for him after hearing early
white labels. The track was finally released and the Junior Camp
remix of 'How the Bass Kix" became one of the biggest
breakbeat anthems of that year.
Other
releases followed including "Millennium Countdown",
"Promised Land", the trancy "Tracing Circles",
and the mega-hit "Pepper Spray". "Pepper
Spray" went on to be included on numerous compilations
including Mixmag Live, DJ Punk Roc’s mixed CD entitled
"Anarchy in the USA" and DJ Baby Anne’s “Bass
Queen”. The track was also licensed out to Weekend Records out
of Spain for international release and has sold thousands of
copies throughout the world.
All
the while, Mark has been touring around the United States
showcasing his recordings and turntable talents for the raving and
clubbing masses. All of this exposure has landed DJ 43 a recording contract with Yes Mate Recordings as well as remixing
contracts with Caffeine records and Funk Wax.
His cd release entitled "Break Out"
is in stores now featuring 12 banging breakbeat tracks continuously
mixed.
With
what ever time is left over he is still releasing his own material
on his own label, Phungus International Recordings and Dave
London's Yes Mate Recordings. If you
ever get a chance to check him out, DO!!!! You won't be
disappointed!! |
